Petition Update: We’ve Just Passed 500 Signatures

Thank you to everyone who has signed so far, we’ve just passed 500 signatures and it’s clear that Islanders feel strongly about the new DIY waste charges at Lynbottom and Afton Marsh.

Residents across the Island are telling us the same thing: these charges are unfair, they penalise ordinary homeowners, and they risk increasing fly‑tipping at a time when people are already struggling with rising living costs.

The council’s two‑bag weekly allowance simply isn’t enough for genuine home repairs or essential maintenance. Islanders deserve a waste policy that supports responsible DIY, not one that adds new financial barriers.
