Reverse Somerset Councils Decision to Ban Shaun Brown from running his Fruit & Veg Stall

The Issue

Our community has been deeply affected by a recent decision made by Somerset Council. Shaun Brown, of Brown and Daughters Fruit and Veg Stall, has been unjustly banned from trading at Shepton Mallet Market every Friday. This decision was not only unfair but also had an immediate negative impact on our beloved long-serving, family-run stall.

The ban was imposed because In September 2023 There was a disagreement with another stall holder who was blocking the exit from the market at the end of the day. He then made an exaggerated complaint, which led to The council banning Shaun from running his stall The council chose to take one side instead of looking at both sides & looking at evidence.

Shepton Mallet Market is a place where locals gather not just for shopping but for fostering community spirit. The loss of the Brown and Daughters stall disrupts this tradition that has been part of our lives for many years. The council's decision doesn't just affect one vendor - it affects us all.

We are asking Somerset Council to immediately reconsider their decision so that our community, town, and market do not continue to suffer from this abrupt change. We believe in fairness and the importance of supporting local businesses like Shaun’s which have served our community with dedication.

This is more than just a petition; it is our "Bring back Shaun campaign". Let's stand together as a community against decisions that harm local businesses which are integral parts of our daily lives in Somerset.

Please sign this petition to show your support for reversing the council’s decision – let’s bring back Shaun!
