Reverse Ontario’s Ban on Ear Cropping

The Issue

My name is Isolde Ryan, owner of Doberman von Ryan’s Luxus. I originally started this petition to oppose Ontario’s proposed ban on ear cropping. Now that the ban has been adopted and is scheduled to take effect January 1, 2027, I am continuing the fight to have it reversed.
As a Doberman breeder with more than 40 years of experience, I believe ear cropping should remain available when performed by a licensed veterinarian with proper anesthesia, pain management and aftercare.
Strict veterinary regulation protects dogs better than a blanket ban, which drives owners toward unregulated procedures.
The College of Veterinarians of Ontario has itself stated that “any restriction on veterinarians performing specific surgical procedures could create unintended consequences that would not support safe animal care.”
Please sign this petition asking Ontario to reverse the ban and allow professionally performed ear cropping under clear veterinary standards.
