The Issue

Grassroots football in Taunton is more than a hobby it's a passion. It's about seeing the joy in children's faces as they develop skills, make friendships, and learn valuable life lessons on the pitch. However, a new rule enforced by the Taunton & District Youth League have enforced a new three JPL player rule that will stop children from playing together.

This recently introduced regulation could severely impact grassroots football, for countless others across Taunton. These changes could hinder our young athletes from playing regularly, disrupting the fabric and essence of community football. The rule could limit the opportunities for children to train and play together, impacting their enjoyment and development in the sport.

Grassroots football serves as a vital platform for youth development, encouraging teamwork, discipline, and health. It's essential that we protect it. Imposing rules that restrict children's ability to participate not only affects their physical development but also damages community spirit that has been nurtured through football.

We need the local league authorities to reconsider this rule for the sake of our young players. Let's ensure that our teams, especially in the 14/15yr divisions, continue to have ample opportunities to play the sport they love. We must prioritize our children's development and maintain the strong community ties that grassroots football has fostered over the years.

Sign this petition to stand with us in urging the Taunton & District Youth League and to reverse this rule. Protect our children's right to play and preserve grassroots football for the future generations.
