Reverse Measurement T Prop Ending Local Homelessness in El Dorado County

The Issue

As a local native of South Lake Tahoe, CA, I have witnessed firsthand the impact that the veto of measurement T has had on local residents in our community since it’s passing in 2024 more than 25 percent of our homeless population in El Dorado County are local residents who have been evicted by homeowners who rent to them and operate their homes as vacation rentals. El Dorado County City Council claims that they will not reverse the veto because it’s violates the rights of out of town homeowners in El Dorado County. City Council decided unanimously to veto the ban of the measurement T prop simply because it showed a decrease in taxes that would be given to the city by its homeowners. With the help of our local community we can make sure that our residents locally are considered just as important as their taxpayers who live outside of El Dorado County.
