The Korean National Assembly and Court System Got The Message

This week, during the Korean National Assembly parliamentary audit of the court system, a prominent legislator raised the issue of Hague abduction return enforcement.  He even played a video of left-behind parent John Sichi explaining the problem.  We made this happen by building alliances through lawyers and advocacy groups within Korea.  We will keep taking this to higher and higher levels until this issue gets resolved!

You can watch the full audit session here, with English subtitles:

One very disturbing fact uncovered during the audit was that out of all 49 abductions to Korea from around the world in the last decade, the children were successfully returned in only 7 cases.  This is a very low ratio; in most countries, typically about 50% of cases are resolved with successful returns.

The numbers for abductions from the US to Korea are even more concerning.  Out of 19 known cases over the last decade, we believe that only 2 or 3 resulted in returns.

If you are not outraged by Korea's negligence already, you should be!  Besides re-sharing this petition to friends, social media groups, and journalists, please consider contacting your own legislators (in whatever country you live in) and alerting them to the problem.
