The Issue
Our family, like many others, depends on our service dogs for day-to-day support and emotional well-being. However, in a shocking event that still feels surreal, our 3 beloved service dogs were unlawfully seized by a SWAT team and the local Humane Society under appalling and aggressive conditions.
The warrant that was issued only allowed officers to confirm the presence of dogs, not to seize them. Unfortunately, that is not what transpired. Video evidence shows that fire extinguishers were used in an attempt to terrify the dogs into becoming aggressive, which they never were. These dogs were our lifelines—especially since my daughter and I suffer from PTSD, and I am managing Multiple Sclerosis. Losing them has left us in emotional and physical turmoil.
Adding to the heartbreak and confusion, the Humane Society refuses to provide information regarding the whereabouts or condition of our dogs. Their silence is a weight too heavy to carry. One of the dogs we were babysitting did bite a neighbor, and while we surrendered that dog as per the regulations, our three were taken despite being non-aggressive and well-mannered, as documented by numerous community members.
These dogs were not only family members but also legally recognized service animals essential for our health and well-being. My daughter has regressed significantly without her companion, suffering intensely and finding it next to impossible to sleep. The psychological and emotional toll has been devastating. It's not just about returning the dogs; it’s about reclaiming our lives and sense of normalcy.
We need your support to hold the responsible parties accountable and ensure the safe return of our service dogs. By signing this petition, you are helping us stand against this grave injustice. We must come together to demand transparency, adherence to the law, and the humane treatment of all animals. Please join us in fighting for their return and ensuring no other family has to endure such a traumatic violation.
Sign the petition and help bring our loving companions back home where they belong.
