I wish I had happy news for all of you by now. Charlie Girl has been in distress for 3.5 months in Dunedin and along with frequent repetitive weaving, her left arthritic wing is sagging and the male kaka she is forced to live with is chasing her several times a day. 

DOC has failed to acknowledge any welfare concerns for Charlie and spends more time promoting their cruel breeding program.

But Team Charlie has grown and we need your voices to help Charlie return to Te Anau and thrive. Please visit Charlie's page on facebook and be vocal. DOC management will never acknowledge Charlie's welfare needs unless enough kiwis and global citizens speak up on her behalf. We need you to react, comment, and share on multiple posts. We need you to email DOC and news outlets. We need you to understand her story and share it with the world. Only when Charlie has enough support will the callous managers at DOC let her return to Te Anau to heal. And until then she is suffering.
