Hi there,
Over the weekend we reached 700 signatures (as of today 714 to be precise).
I can't begin to thank everyone for your support. A huge thanks too to all the clubs and organisations who have promoted this petition (see included image for a list of these).
Gretel needs to be back home and doesn't deserve to be in her current state. Australians value our national heritage and, as a sea-locked country, our maritime heritage is hugely important.
In addition to restoring our heritage for future generations to learn from and enjoy, Gretel can serve the community in other ways too:
- Providing a platform to support those less fortunate, with fun and learn-to-sail days on the water.
- Generating tourism revenue and flow-on effects to small business.
- Supporting charity events and corporate team-building days.
- Showcasing to the world (yet again) our ability to rise above adversity and achieve great outcomes.
- Providing an uplifting story of resiliance and second chances, benefiting many with mental health and other personal challenges.
Thanks again for your support and please share this petition with your friends, family and wider network.
And if you want to get in touch with me direct, please send an email to savegretel@gmail.com.
Kind regards,
Nigel Watts
