On April 10, 2016, Shani Patel was murdered in his apartment near Rutgers University- Newark campus. 

Today, the assailants who committed the crime, Marcus Feliz and Fraynned Ramirez, are in custody. Marcus received 18 years in Northern State Penitentiary and could be released in 2031. Fraynned received 13 years in South Wood State Penitentiary and could be released in 2028. This is a clear example of the justice system not holding criminals accountable for their actions. The assailants should not be released. The assailants deserve a life sentence with no parole.

Please sign this petition to call for an extension for an appeal, or a motion to file a late appeal with good cause and absence of prejudice on their case, since the law was wrongfully applied in their case and to bring forth a new trial to be heard in court. We want the family and friends of Shani to feel at ease and not have to think of these assailants roaming free. Times have changed and these are not people that can be left free to roam amongst others.
