Time to speak UP and OUT!! Share this petition!!
The mayor is adamant about all things regarding the One Westfield Place development and she refuses to listen and hear the residents concerns. Her team has spent 3 years playing SIMCity with the developers money and she forgot she is a public servant and has constituents that pay taxes.
Residents, You will have been given 4 months since late September 2022 and the Redevelopment Plan vote on February 14, 2023, to visit the Preview Center, look at renderings, read 50 pages of FAQs that are continually updated, read many reports and ordinances, to get familiar with this 14 acre proposal scattered over 5 sites.
This is a proposal that obligates the public to invest in at least $46.2 Million of capital expenditures plus debt service by issuing redevelopment area bonds that depend on receiving PILOT revenue from the developer to pay the principal and interest on the bond. This is a huge amount of $$ even over 30 years. (The $8 million direct payment from Streetworks is not included here and the $10 million sale of 2.2 acres is not included here.)
Look at this ridiculously speedy schedule below - there is no time for real public input during this one month period -- or for the developer to make changes during this one month period -- it reads like a done deal and a rubber stamp. The Ordinance is probably being drafted right now.
On these 4 nights, You have to get out of your armchair and off the computer!! We want your Bodies at every Upcoming Meeting. Bring your family!
