The execution of direct flights between Russia and Cyprus was terminated more than a year ago. This restriction had no impact on either the economy or the political situation within Russia. On the other hand, the absence of direct flights had an extremely negative impact on the Cypriot economy. In the absence of direct flights, Cyprus loses 25% of its tourist flow due to the lack of Russians. At the same time, Russia has increased its share of domestic tourism, which has had a positive impact on the country's economy and has contributed to an increase in investment in the Russian tourism sector. However, not only Russia but also 52 other countries that maintained direct air communication with Russia benefited from the restrictions. Turkey became one of the main beneficiaries. We believe that the Cypriot government, by joining the EU sanctions, has done a great favor to Russia and Turkey by acting against the citizens of its own country and causing unacceptable economic damage to the Cypriot economy. We propose to cancel the decision, which has proven its inefficiency.
