In order for our government to function, voters need to trust that lawmakers have their best interests at heart. Right now, we all know the trust just isn’t there. One major reason why is that we continue to allow members of Congress to trade stocks while in office – with little oversight and accountability. 

The Restoring Faith in Government Act prohibits lawmakers, their spouses, and dependents from owning or trading individual stocks—restoring trust and eliminating conflicts of interest.

Taking action to ban congressional stock trading is critical to restoring public faith in Congress. A recent poll found that 86% of voters believe that members of Congress should not be permitted to trade individual stocks.
