As a parent of a magnet school student in Jefferson County Public Schools, I am deeply frustrated by the recent decision to abruptly remove transportation services for magnet and traditional school students. The decision to end transportation services was taken without considering that Jefferson County houses some of the largest public school systems in Kentucky, with approximately 96,000 students enrolled in the 2018-2019 school year (National Center for Education Statistics). This decision could potentially affect tens of thousands of these families who were relying on this transportation service for their children's education.
