MLB used to use tiebreaker games (known as Game 163 after a 162 game regular season). Since baseball is played far more than other sports, what's one more game? When the playoff format got changed in 2022, they decided to take the possibility of tiebreaker games away because they thought that delaying the playoffs by ONE day was too much! Without tiebreaker games the playoff races lose some of its fun and teams don't share control of their fate if tied at the end of the regular season.

Solution: Bring back tiebreaker games, delay the affected playoff series by ONE day and hold doubleheaders to settle a 3-way tie. If the tie involves an east coast team and a west coast team, hold that game at an MLB park in the middle of the country.
