Hampstead Cemetery Extended Opening Hours - A Positive First Season

With the pilot of extended opening hours having come to an end yesterday, Sunday 25th October, I wanted to share some encouraging news and thank everyone who supported our campaign.

The additional evening hours have been tremendously welcomed by local residents, allowing more people to enjoy the cemetery after work, visit loved ones and appreciate this beautiful and peaceful green space.

Camden has confirmed that the pilot passed without any reported incidents or issues, and that ICCS, which manages the cemetery, would be happy to repeat the arrangements next year, subject to funding being agreed by the Fortune Green ward councillors.

This is very welcome news and a positive outcome for everyone who supported the petition, thank you again.

Our longer-term hope remains the permanent restoration of the pre-Covid opening hours, rather than relying on annual funding decisions. The success of this year's arrangements provides a good foundation for that discussion.

Thank you again to everyone who signed, shared and supported the campaign. Your voices have made a very genuine difference, and I will continue to keep you updated as plans for next year develop.
