Petition: Restore the Right to Simultaneous Family Reunion for Iranian Doctors under §16d – German Embassy Tehran

 

Short Description:

Recently, the German Embassy in Tehran stopped allowing simultaneous family reunion (gleichzeitiger Familiennachzug) for Iranian doctors applying under §16d. This sudden decision has separated many families. We demand an immediate review and the restoration of this fundamental right.

 

Main Body 

 

Previously, Iranian doctors applying for the §16d visa (recognition of foreign medical qualifications) were allowed to apply together with their families under the simultaneous family reunion policy.

 

Recently, however, the German Embassy in Tehran changed this procedure without prior public notice, allowing only subsequent family reunion (nachträglicher Familiennachzug).

 

As a result, many families have been separated, and doctors who, in good faith and based on the previous regulation allowing simultaneous family reunion, had already started their Feststellungsbescheid process now face serious emotional, financial, and familial challenges.

 

This abrupt change contradicts the principles of fairness and transparency and places unnecessary burdens on skilled professionals who acted according to the previous rules.

 

We, the undersigned, respectfully call upon the German Embassy in Tehran and the Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt) to:

1️⃣ Allow simultaneous family reunion for doctors who began their Feststellungsbescheid procedure based on the previous regulation.

2️⃣ Ensure that any future policy changes are clearly communicated and publicly announced in advance.

3️⃣ Uphold human dignity, family unity, and respect for foreign medical professionals in all visa and residence decisions.

 

Time with family gives doctors the strength to care for others and protect public health.

 

We trust that Germany, known for its fairness and humanity, will review this decision and restore justice and compassion to the process.
