I just launched this petition a couple of hours ago in honor of Edna, Nick and Valerie Stewart. This petition is to both The Walt Disney Company and the City of Los Angeles to restore the Ebony Showcase Theater.

I know that there is a misunderstood movie that is out called Song of the South. I know some might think it’s racist because of tar baby and “happy slave.” Truth be told, you cannot be more wrong.  The Uncle Remus Stories were written long after the emancipation proclamation that was signed in 1865. Due to this, Uncle Remus is not a slave. “Tar baby” is used as a lesson in the movie, not an actual human.

Anyways, Brer Bear aka Nick Stewart was the owner of the Ebony as well as a comedian. Was this not philanthropic?
