Restore the Batman Burtonverse

Restore the Batman Burtonverse
The Issue
Warner Bros., Batman (1989) and Batman Returns remain cultural and box office landmarks, and the Burtonverse still has a passionate, multi-generational fanbase. This is the perfect time to rehire Tim Burton and let his Batman universe tell its full story.
An animated Batman ’89 movie — adapted from the hit Batman ’89 comic series based on Burton’s Batman 3 ideas — along with animated films based on Batman: Resurrection novel and Batman ’89: Echoes could generate decent to strong profits while expanding one of DC’s most beloved worlds, which electrified the comic book world in the late 80s and early 90s.
Featuring as voice actors:
Michael Keaton as Batman
Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman
Billy Dee Williams as Two-Face
Christopher Walken as Max Shreck
Directed by Tim Burton in his signature animated style — proven successful in past classics like The Nightmare Before Christmas which he helped produced, Corpse Bride, and Frankenweenie.
Benefits:
- Appeals to lifelong DC fans and general audiences worldwide
Strong home media, streaming, and theatrical potential at lower cost than live-action - Creates merchandise, tie-ins, and marketing opportunities
- Strengthens DC’s brand with a proven, beloved vision of Batman
- This is WB’s chance to celebrate DC’s legacy, deliver a commercial hit, and bring closure to one of Batman’s most iconic interpretations a timeless vision still celebrated as a success today.
