Restore Stability & Transparency at Monsignor O’Neill Catholic School

Restore Stability & Transparency at Monsignor O’Neill Catholic School
The Issue
Monsignor O’Neill Catholic School
Addressed to: London District Catholic School Board**
Why We Are Raising This Concern
We, the undersigned parents and guardians of students at Monsignor O’Neill Catholic School, are requesting immediate action to restore stability, transparency, and confidence in school leadership and safety communication.
Over the past two years, families have experienced repeated concerns related to:
- Delayed or unclear communication to families following safety events - where is the zero tolerance policy, and when does it come into effect
- Uncertainty regarding reporting timelines and procedural transparency
- Repeated physical altercations and student intimidation concerns
- Inconsistent clarity around administrative authority during leadership absences
- Lack of timely updates regarding who is overseeing decision-making during principal leave periods
While individual incidents are concerning on their own, the cumulative effect has led to a significant erosion of parent confidence in leadership oversight and communication practices.
The Core Issue: Trust and Stability
Schools function best when leadership is stable, visible, and transparent.
When families do not receive clear information during serious incidents or when leadership transitions occur without consistent communication, trust deteriorates.
Regardless of intent, the result has been:
- Growing uncertainty among parents
- Strained morale within the school community
- Families reconsidering enrollment decisions
- A broader sense of instability is affecting students
This is not about personal criticism.
It is about restoring confidence in systems meant to protect and guide our children.
What We Are Requesting
We respectfully call on the London District Catholic School Board to take immediate, visible action to restore confidence in Monsignor O’Neill Catholic School by:
- Appointing stable, dedicated acting leadership through the remainder of the school year to ensure continuity and prevent further disruption.
- Issuing a written safety and communication protocol outlining how serious incidents will be reported and communicated to families moving forward.
- Initiating a formal review of reporting timelines, communication practices, and leadership oversight processes to ensure accountability and improvement.
- Clearly communicating to families who hold decision-making authority during any administrative absence.
These actions are necessary to rebuild trust, stabilize the school climate, and restore morale for students, staff, and families.
Our Commitment
We are prepared to publicly acknowledge and support meaningful corrective action.
Our goal is not conflict.
Our goal is stability, transparency, and a safe learning environment for every child.
Student safety and leadership clarity must be non-negotiable.
If you share these concerns and believe our school community deserves consistent, transparent leadership, we encourage you to sign.
