The Problem:

Mountain Creek is the premier downhill bike park and ski resort in the tri-state area, drawing tens of thousands of visitors from New York City and Northern New Jersey every single year. However, if you don't own a car, getting there is nearly impossible without spending a fortune on rideshares or private charter buses. Public transit options disappeared a decade ago when the old seasonal 304 bus route was canceled, cutting off students, young professionals, and car-free outdoor enthusiasts.

The Solution:

We are petitioning NJ Transit and Mountain Creek Resort to collaborate on a practical, low-cost solution: extending select trips on NJ Transit Route 194 by just 12 miles from its current terminus in West Milford (Stockholm) straight up to Mountain Creek Resort in Vernon. Conceptualized as 194M.

Why it works:

Low Operational Cost: It utilizes existing commuter bus lines (Route 194) that already run up the Route 23 corridor, requiring only a short extension on select trips. Conceptualized to be 2 round trips on Thu/Fri, and 3 round trips on Sat/Sun.

Year-Round Access: It provides vital public transit access for both the winter ski/snowboard season and the booming summer/fall Mountain
Creek Bike Park season.

Traffic & Parking Relief: Every busload of riders takes 30 to 40 cars off Route 94 and eases congested resort parking lots.

Support the Movement:

If you want to ride the bike park or hit the slopes without stressing over traffic, gas, or driving a car, sign this petition and share it with fellow riders, skiers, and local groups (like JORBA and regional transit advocates). Let’s bring public transit back to Mountain Creek!
