Another picture of the coach and car park section closed off using fencing provided by Derbyshire Dales District Council for the tolerated site. As you can see much of the area was not used by the travellers. By putting this fencing across the entrance, they managed to occupy a further 39 parking spaces.
The past weekend alone, this was a loss of car parking income to DDDC of around £585. Add this to a loss of coach parking income over the last 2 years of £9,020 and an estimated loss of car parking income of £43,100 giving so far a grand total of £52,605. Most visitors to the village use the only public toilet near the station car park - also managed by DDDC. Assuming only 33% of the visitors used the facility another estimated loss of income of £15,109.
Total loss of income income to DDDC - £67,714
Was this loss of income considered when the decision was made to use this site as a tolerated traveller site - NO
