A step in the right direction but it is still far away from the full open access we used to enjoy until last September. After depriving us of it, the easing of the recently imposed and stern opening hours look more like breadcrumbs to appease our call to restore open access to the Grianan. So please keep signing and sharing this petition.
In the article and its headline is contained an unfortune phrasing calling the Grianan 'neglected'. It most certainly is not neglected nor is it falling short of affection and attention by the community and visitors, as recent visitor numbers and the support for this petition proof, but may originate in more commercially orientated interests in to the monument. Not only would such interests alter the appearance of the entire site and therefore change how it is experienced but also could lay the foundation of introducing an entrance fee. Should the latter be the case than opening hours would not be far behind and that of course counteracts the reason for this petition.
