As alumni and supporters of Morris College, we cherish the tradition of our unique January homecoming. This event has always been more than just a gathering; it is a time to reminisce about our shared experiences, both good and bad. It is an opportunity to reconnect with old friends and make new memories. The uniqueness of having homecoming in January sets us apart from other colleges in South Carolina, making it special for all who have attended.

However, this cherished tradition is under threat as there are plans to move the homecoming date away from its traditional end of January slot. We understand that change can be necessary at times but firmly believe that "if it isn't broken, don't fix it".

The timing of our homecoming has never posed any issues before; on the contrary, it has always been one of its most distinctive features that we take pride in. In fact, according to data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), only a small percentage of colleges nationwide hold their homecomings outside the typical fall season.

We urge Morris College administration to reconsider this decision and preserve our unique tradition by keeping the homecoming at its original end-of-January schedule. Please sign this petition if you agree that traditions matter and should be preserved whenever possible.
