Restore Minnesota State Horticultural Society Funding in the 2025-2026 MN Biennium Budget

Restore Minnesota State Horticultural Society Funding in the 2025-2026 MN Biennium Budget
The Issue
At the Minnesota State Horticultural Society (MSHS), we believe gardening is more than just a pastime—it is a tool for building stronger, more connected communities.
But right now, our ability to serve gardeners across Minnesota is at risk.
The latest state budget draft does not include continued funding for MSHS, despite the critical role we play in strengthening communities through gardening education, resources, and support. This funding has helped MSHS serve northern growers for over 150 years—now, we need your help to make sure it continues.
Sign our petition to ensure we continue offering the following to our local communities:
- Food security – MSHS programs (Garden-in-a-Box, Minnesota Green), classes and publications support new gardeners, community gardens and giving gardens to increase food production and distribution, particularly in underserved communities.
- Health – MSHS provides opportunity, inspiration and knowledge for more and more Minnesotans to reap the physical and mental health benefits of gardening.
- Community – MSHS events and support for community gardens provide a healthy, safe way for people to be together in a continuing time of isolation.
- Environment – MSHS supports pollinator-friendly and native plants, soil and water health, and redistributing 55,000 plants for a healthy, sustainable future in MN.
Want to make further impact? Make a donation to show your commitment and help us sustain essential programs like Garden-in-a-Box, Minnesota Green, and accessible gardening education. Every dollar donated strengthens our case for funding.
Thank you for making your voice heard and showing your support for the Minnesota State Horticultural Society.
