Restore excursion train service to Cape May City!

Restore excursion train service to Cape May City!
The Issue
The Cape May Seashore Lines is a heritage railroad in Southern New Jersey providing passenger excursions and local freight services in Atlantic and Cape May counties. However, they have not been able to run trains south to Cape May City since 2012 due to vandalism and track damage along the line. What do I mean? On March 1, 2012, the Seashore Lines received a telephone call from the New Jersey State Police, advising them that theft of track material had occurred on their Cape May Branch in Dennisville. This is the Seashore Lines’ main line between Tuckahoe and Cape May City. The investigating trooper informed them that several individuals associated with the theft had been arrested and charged with indictable offenses. Arrested on Monday, March 5, were a father and son team from the Villas section of Lower Township, New Jersey, along with a third individual from Rio Grande. And , as of 2023, the ROW has not been restored. Worse, the city of Cape May wants to convert the line to a rail trail. We can't let that happen! That being said, Cape May Seashore Lines should partner with the Federal Railroad Administration to upgrade infrastructure and restore trackage along the line. This way, tourists have an easy way to access the beach without having to drive, and the railroad still lives up to its name of Cape May Seashore Lines. Please sign and share this petition today!
