For years, senior illustration students from the Fashion Institute of Technology have dedicated creativity and passion to ChalkFIT, a tradition of creating public murals near Penn Station. These murals are a vital part of the culture of FIT and New York City itself. Passerby’s who don’t even attend the school look forward to it every year. The exposure gives students the leg up that they need to begin their career.  

In an effort to reconstruct the interior buildings, an administrative decision was made to move ChalkFIT inside; taking away the public exposure and community appreciation. 

Art deserves to be seen and appreciated by the taxpayers that make our discounted tuition possible. Join us in urging the FIT administration to consider the cultural and educational benefits of public murals and to reinstate ChalkFIT to its rightful place.
