Restore battlefield to its former glory
Das Problem
I’ve been a devoted Battlefield player since the days of Battlefield 1942, and I’ve also cherished experiences in Call of Duty, beginning with Modern Warfare. These games held a special place in my childhood, consistently delivering the quality they promised, and creating countless memorable experiences within rich, immersive universes. However, in recent years, the essence of these games has been overshadowed by the flood of unfinished editions, cluttered with microtransactions and lacking the polished touch that we, the gaming community, once admired.
Battlefield, particularly, stood as a bastion of meticulous gameplay and engaging battlegrounds during the releases of Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, and Battlefield 1. These editions set benchmarks in gaming history with their remarkable storytelling and multiplayer experiences. Yet, what we face now with recent installations like Battlefield 2042 and Battlefield 6 is a disheartening move towards a 'live service' model, which prioritizes continuous, unnecessary monetization over authentic, quality-driven experiences.
The solution lies in revisiting the features that made Battlefield iconic. It’s time to bring back the Premiumpass system, which might've required a purchase but ensured we received complete and rewarding content packages, free of the excessive in-game purchases that fracture our gaming adventures. By reintroducing this approach, we can prioritize retaining the community feel—where players can enjoy consistent, authentic gameplay without the distraction of persistent microtransaction pop-ups.
It’s more than nostalgia; it’s about preserving the legacy these games founded and refusing to let the greed of AAA companies erode the integrity of the gaming experiences we hold dear. We urge DICE and EA to step back from their current approach and focus on delivering what made the Battlefield series a hallmark of gaming excellence.
Join me in advocating for a return to this benchmark quality. Sign this petition to echo the demands for a battlefield where quality stands above profit, and the community thrives on shared enjoyment rather than corporate strategy.
