Restore Annual Coeliac Care Under Wrexham BCUHB – Protect Patients’ Health!

Restore Annual Coeliac Care Under Wrexham BCUHB – Protect Patients’ Health!
The Issue
As a coeliac patient and the administrator of the Coeliacs of Wrexham and Beyond Facebook group, I feel a deep urgency to address the discontinuation of annual reviews and long-term support for coeliac patients under Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB). It is distressing that our healthcare needs are being overlooked. According to NICE guidelines, coeliac patients ought to receive annual reviews, blood tests, and bone density scans as part of their management plan. BCUHB has a responsibility to ensure that all diagnosed patients receive these crucial support services, instead of leaving them to manage this life-altering disease solely through their GPs. As many as 1 in 100 people in the UK have coeliac disease, indicating an urgent necessity for improved and consistent healthcare services. The lack of support not only compromises the health and wellbeing of the patients but also undermines the tireless and critical work performed by our healthcare providers. We urge BCUHB to restore funding for ongoing coeliac care, thereby safeguarding the health and long-term wellbeing of countless patients. The care we receive today will shape our health outcomes for years to come - let us make it count. Sign this petition to demand that BCUHB reinstates and protects the annual reviews and long-term support for coeliac patients.
