Bring Back Island Rail - News - Press Release - Food Security

News: We just re-sent our Press Release to 18 local news agencies, let's hope this time they inform voters what we're doing for the 2026 General Election. Visit our Election 2026 web page to find out!

Wider highways also mean more vehicle interactions, more opportunities for collisions, and when a serious crash happens, longer and more disruptive closures just like the 8-10 car pileup that occurred on the Trans Canada in Victoria just a couple days ago.

A restored railway would allow us to move right past it all.

It could provide a reliable alternative for commuters, students, seniors, tourists and families, while also giving freight a dedicated corridor to move agricultural products, industrial goods and other essential supplies.

Food Security
Top Shelf Feeds has been actively letting people know how the loss of bulk feed deliveries by rail impacted their business and the costs they have to pass on to Vancouver Island Farmers.  That affects prices at local Farmers Markets and farm stands.  Top Shelf Feeds is the sole provider of bulk feed to farms on Vancouver Island, so if they are concerned, you should be too!

Thank you for promoting, sharing, and signing the petition.  Props to those that go above and beyond by getting active with the Restore Island Rail Society
