I've mentioned many times on this journey to save Vancouver Island's Railway that every survey and poll ever conducted has shown a minimum level of support for rail at 75%. That very real fact was proven once again in the public engagement recently conducted in the CVRD by Stantec and Modus, funded by the BC Government.
Let's keep the momentum going! Share, Promote, and write your MLA's and MP's.
49% of responders chose a Trail or Rail and Trails which to me simply re-enforces the Island Corridor Foundations business case for Rail and Trails. Just like the photo shows, in difficult areas where the two won't fit, the trail can leave trackside and join with other trails like this one does at Old Mill Park in Shawnigan Lake, Vancouver island.
The huge 2 part report just released is linked from Plan Your Cowichan page. To summarize, it supports everything every supporter has said, that Island Rail would be successful! They say it would be so successful it would take 13 to 22 three-Car trains to handle all the potential ridership!
You are on the right side of history for supporting this petition! The next report from the ACRD will be coming in the Fall/Winter of 2025. It will sure be interesting to see how that region sees the corridor serving their needs in the future as their population grows too.
Thanks again for your support, for your shares and promotions, and caring about this incredibly important corridor for Vancouver Island's future.
