Today we reached a monumental 5300 supporters for Vancouver Island Rail.
With 1,751 petition shares and 123 people promoting it using their hard earned cash to get the word out there, we've gained an additional 2.3K signatures!
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all of you and those that have taken the time to sign. I've placed a link to the Petition going to the house of commons within the text of the petition, so if you are really passionate about steering away from solely car-centric transportation investment, please take the time to sign that too.
To all Canadians, British Columbians and Vancouver Islanders, we can get the Vancouver Island railway fully operational again. All it takes is peoples will to tell the Government to get off it's car-centric addition, and start rebuilding our railway.
The Island Corridor connects Vancouver Island cities and towns from Victoria B.C. through Esquimalt, View Royal, Colwood, Langford, Malahat, Shawnigan Lake, Duncan, Chemainus, Ladysmith, Nanaimo, Parksville, to Courtenay. And from Parksville to Port Alberni creating a West-East Iron highway between Deep Sea Ports.
This Petition shouldn't even be necessary because a responsible government would sit with the Island's First Nations and figure out a deal that works for everyone on Vancouver Island, after all, we would not be having this conversation today if not for the Island's indigenous peoples.
Perhaps on the upcoming National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the 30th of September 2023, they will reconcile the parts of the railway that pass through their reserves.
Thanks again, keep sharing, promoting, and talking about it with friends and family, because the bigger the petitions the more impact they will have.
