Fossil fuel giants and their financial backers think they can quiet us with glossy marketing, green logos, and vague "net-zero" promises. They think the public isn't paying attention.

We call upon the general public, investors, and decision-makers to sign this open letter, demand binding institutional accountability, and insist on transparent capital deployment that aligns with global decarbonization needs. Together, we can hold those in power accountable and demand an end to corporate greenwashing.

We want to take a moment to congratulate you for your multi-decade record run. It takes a different kind of dedication to make billions of profit while quietly breaking the planet.
You have played a generational, billion-dollar game for decades:

• ExxonMobil spent decades perfecting the art of greenwashing in the public eye—investing a tiny fraction of its budget in renewables while generating massive revenues from fossil fuels.
• BP & TotalEnergies mastered rebranding with friendly new logos while locking in heavy emission extraction projects for decades and leading global fossil fuel expansion.
• JPMorgan Chase serves as the ultimate benefactor—financing billions to big oil projects through green marketing while promising net zero.

You have built an entire global economy based on extraction, for which we owe you a monument. Except, monuments are built to honor things we want to remember—so a graveyard is the perfect fit. The public can read and observe your transition plans and your action—or, better yet, lack of action toward those plans. You cannot light a place on fire and simultaneously market yourself as a firefighter.

As the era of fossil fuels finally moves toward its expiration date, history will remember your legacy exactly as intended. It was an expensive, short-term gain paid by everyone for the long term.
You can rest assured because the receipt has been kept.
