Respect Parental Rights and Conscience in Diocese of Dallas Catholic Schools
The Issue
UPDATE:
If you have not already, please mail your bishop a letter voicing your concern on the vaccine exemptions in Texas. Also, if you could email Dr. Lisette Allen who is the Director of Education for the Texas Catholic Coalition of Bishops. Her email address is lisette@txcatholic.org. Attached is the letter I sent:
Dr. Allen,
I am emailing you regarding the strict vaccine exemption policy in Texas Catholic Diocesan schools. My husband and I have come to the conclusion of no longer vaccinating our children. Without going into all of the reasons that IS supported by the Church as to why we will no longer be vaccinating our kids, I am emailing you as the TCCB Director of Education for your leadership and guidance in having this statewide policy of only allowing medical exemptions overturned. I strongly request that this topic be addressed with the Texas Bishops the next time they meet in December.
Medical exemptions are INCREDIBLY difficult (near impossible) to obtain, It wasn't until we starting researching the corruption of vaccines that people started coming forward about how they do not vaccinate and how it is against Catholic teachings to require our students to be vaccinated, which the Catechism states it is ultimately the parents' decision. I know of many families who want to enroll their children in our diocesan schools but because of the strict medical exemption requirement, they are either unable to find a doctor willing to work with them to obtain one or are bullied into being kept silent.
Now that TEFA is making private Catholic education an option for families that otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it, we should be allowing religious exemptions to educate more children in our beautiful faith. There are so many families we could be inviting into our schools with this change. In the four states surrounding Texas, the Dioceses of Tulsa, Little Rock, Lafayette, Lake Charles, and all of the dioceses in New Mexico allow religious exemptions, but none of the Dioceses in Texas do.
I would love the opportunity to discuss this more in detail with science backed truths of the corrupt "science" of vaccines, the jeopardy of the moral dilemma that the dioceses are putting on parents who want to give their children a catholic education and the stance of parents being the ultimate decision makers that the Catechism of the Catholic Church states.
Petition for the Diocese of Dallas:
I look forward to your response,
Katherine Darling
This petition reflects the concerns of many Catholic families who wish to make informed, conscientious decisions about their children’s health, while remaining faithful to the Church’s teachings.
We, the undersigned, respectfully urge the Diocese of Dallas to allow religious and conscientious vaccine exemptions for families enrolling children in Catholic schools.
Catholic teaching affirms the primacy of conscience and the right of parents to make medical decisions in line with their faith. Most Protestant schools in Texas already honor religious exemptions, yet our Catholic schools have adopted a more restrictive policy. As faithful members of the Church, we ask that our religious liberty and parental rights be respected in accordance with the principles of freedom of conscience upheld by the Catholic Church.
