Resolve the Dueling Bug in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened

The Issue

Petition to NetEase Games and Zen Studio: Resolve the Dueling Bug and Compensate Affected Players in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened.

We, the players of Harry Potter: Magic Awakened, are deeply frustrated by a persistent dueling bug that has affected the game since the start of Season 9 on September 19, 2024. For over two months, many players, particularly those in Europe, South America, and Africa, have been unable to find a single match in the Dueling Club.

We have observed that the issue seems to depend on the internet service provider (ISP). Even within the same country, the game works with some ISPs but encounters matchmaking problems with others. In some regions, the game doesn't function correctly with any ISP. While we don't know the exact cause of the issue, affected players include both those who transferred from the now-closed WB Games servers and those in regions officially supported by NetEase, such as North Africa.

Description of the Issue
1. Matchmaking Problems:

  • Players from the affected regions cannot find matches in the Dueling Club after reaching a rating of 7250.
  • Below this rating, matchmaking only pairs players with bots, significantly degrading the competitive experience.

2. Lack of Communication:

  • For over two months, support has responded to inquiries with generic replies, offering no meaningful updates or timelines for a resolution.

Our Requests
1. Bug Fix:

  • Resolve the matchmaking issues to ensure fair and consistent gameplay for all players, regardless of their region or ISP.

2. Transparency:

  • Provide regular updates on the investigation and the steps being taken to fix the bug.
  • Share clear timelines for the implementation of a fix.
  • Establish a better communication channel between players and developers. WB Games maintained an official Discord server and a community manager; we would like NetEase Global to implement something similar.

3. Compensation for Affected Players:

  • Award the "Dementor" prank to players who were unable to get the Fearless Grand Master achievement due to this bug but fulfilled all other requirements for the Fearless Completionist achievement.
  • Provide additional compensation for the two months during which players were unable to participate in a meaningful Dueling Club experience.

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened has cultivated a passionate and loyal community. However, neglecting such a critical issue risks alienating a significant portion of this community, damaging both player trust and the game’s reputation. Many players who have supported the game from the very beginning are now considering leaving due to this unresolved problem.

Resolving the bug and compensating affected players is not only fair but crucial to preserving the trust and loyalty of your global community.

We strongly urge you to take immediate action and provide a resolution to this issue.

Sincerely,

Community of HPMA players of the servers Ashwinder, Sphinx, Erumpent and Rougarou.

If you are also affected by the problem, or would like to support players who suffer from this bug, please share the link to this petition in your Social Club. Community support will help us draw attention to this issue and get an official statement from NetEase.
