Give Regis University Students in Quarantine Warm Food and Water

The Issue

*Please sign our petition if you agree Regis should meet our demands in full and provide warm food and clean water to students affected by Covid-19 on campus*

We are writing to you today because we know that we can not take on this issue alone. We need the power of the student body and faculty behind us in order to make our voices heard and our needs met. We do not want other Regis students to experience the same thing we did, and we refuse to accept the mistreatment of ourselves or our fellow Regis students. Regis administration has made a pointed effort to shift any and all COVID-19 related issues to the fault of the students, and we will no longer stand for it. We demand that Regis University begins to provide adequate care to its infected students and stop treating them like delinquents who did something wrong. Regis University made the decision to bring us back to campus and must deal with the consequences of their actions, rather than continuing to treat our young people like criminals.

Here are our list of primary and secondary demands that we expect to be fulfilled:

Primary Demands:

  • Full access to food, clean water, and mental and physical healthcare. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Complete and consistent access to clean water, warm food, equipment for sanitization and healthcare maintenance. This includes but is not limited to hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes or spray, bottled water, three meals a day, and regular trash collection.
  • Equal Access to residence provisions between male and female presenting quarantined students. (I find it appalling that I have to ask for this at all).

Secondary Demands:

  • Regis takes responsibility for its actions:
  • Regis publicly takes responsibility for their part in exposing the Regis student body to COVID-19. By choosing to reopen campus, our administration knowingly put students at risk, and did not have an adequate plan in place to track cases or house infected students. Regis must stop attempting to place any and all blame on the student body.
  • ResLife meets with affected students, in a group meeting with affected parties and Regis Res Life Staff, to discuss and negotiate attunements for residual, physical, and mental health effects.
