Save Our Street Murals from State Overreach. 3 ways to fight back. Why: The Florida Legislature and Governor passed a law earlier this year requiring the removal of painted crosswalks and intersections citing "safety". At 2:00pm we will STAND UP on the steps of City Hall with our leaders and encourage them to fight back. Murals and artwork around town could be removed, including the Progressive Pride Mural, Black History Mural, USF Mural, and Art Mural downtown St Pete. The law may also apply to the decorate control boxes at many intersections. Step 1, Sign the Petition linked in the 1st comment. 2. At 2:00pm join us with banners, flags and signs on the steps of City Hall. (we can't block the entrance) 3. Speak at OPEN FORUM at the Council Meeting beginning at 3pm. (You can't bring in banners and flags). You need to fill out a comment card in advance to speak. Don't let this ridiculous example of State Overreach go forward. It's an attack on local rule, local art, diversity, and education. Multiple studies have shown intersection and crosswalk art actually slows traffic, reduces accidents, and improves pedestrian safety. #Resist #DontEraseUs, #SupportArt #SupportDiversity #WeAreStPete
