It has been apparent from the beginning of this current administration that Senator Chuck Schumer is woefully inept in meeting the threat of the Trump regime and Project 2025. Under his leadership the Democratic Party has engaged in useless gestures like renaming the Big Beautiful Bill, failing to endorse Mayor-elect Mamdani after winning the Democratic Primary, and now conceding after a 40-day government shutdown the very reason they refused to fund the government in the first place: the loss of ACA subsidies to keep healthcare costs down. They are caving days after huge electoral wins on Tuesday. 

Under his leadership the Democratic Party has hemorrhaged voters, squandered talent, and become synonymous with feckless leadership. As masked men kidnap people off our streets, the price of living skyrockets, and our medical bills go through the roof, we demand leadership that will actually fight for us. 

It is time for Senator Schumer to leave his post as the Minority Leader of the Democratic Party and hand over the mantle to someone willing and able to meet the moment. The Democratic Party must embrace effective communicators and strong resistors for the survival of our Democracy. We demand leaders who are not beholden to corporate interests and who are in touch with the will of the people. We demand leaders who understand that we are in the fight of our lives and as long as those on the other side view marginalized people as not only second class citizens but as less than human than we cannot trust them and we cannot negotiate with them. We demand better
