We demand that Senator Cliff Bentz step down as the representative of Oregon’s 2nd Congressional District. Through numerous bills and legal actions, Senator Bentz has uprooted Oregon’s values and betrayed its people. Enough is enough.

During his time in office, Bentz has repeatedly positioned himself in opposition to the core values of Oregonians. He has chosen loyalty to his party—and to powerful interests—over the needs of the people he was elected to represent.

Here are the facts:

1) Walkout on Climate Action: While serving in the Oregon State Senate, Bentz participated in a high-profile walkout alongside all Republican senators to block the cap-and-trade climate bill (HB 2020).

2) Attempt to Overturn the 2020 Election: In Congress, Bentz objected to certifying Pennsylvania’s 2020 electoral votes, aligning with 139 Republicans in challenging the legitimate outcome—an act widely condemned as undermining democracy.

3) Abandoning Veterans: He was the only member of Oregon’s congressional delegation to oppose the Honoring Our PACT Act (2021), a critical bill to support veterans exposed to toxic burn pits.

4) Opposition to GI Bill Parity: In January 2022, Bentz voted against the Guard and Reserve GI Bill Parity Act, which aimed to provide fair education benefits to National Guard and Reserve members.

5) Support for Budget Cuts to SNAP and OHP: Bentz backed deep cuts to SNAP (used by 1 in 6 Oregonians) and Oregon Health Plan (OHP)—which serves nearly 30% of Oregon’s population, including half of all Oregon children.

6) Attacks on Public Lands: He has supported legislation that would undermine federal land protections, opening public lands to logging and industrial interests.
