As lifelong residents of Mississippi, we have watched with growing concern as State Auditor Shad White has shifted his focus from serving the interests of our state to prioritizing personal gain and public recognition. His actions have veered far from the responsibilities defined by his role, and he has financially benefited from acting beyond his official capacity. It is clear that his priorities now lie in advancing his own ambitions rather than the well-being of Mississippi.

Most troubling is his decision to become "judge, jury, and executioner," with zero regard for the legal system and its processes. His personal attacks on respected public servants, hardworking citizens, and minority initiatives demonstrate a disregard for due process. In a state as diverse as Mississippi, we expect our leaders to stand up for the rights and opportunities of all people, regardless of race, gender, or background. The State Auditor should be someone who handles financial oversight impartially, focusing on accuracy and accountability, not engaging in divisive political rhetoric. He also will not answer as to why he and his wife have direct ties to The SOROS Foundation.

Shad White has failed to embody these essential qualities in his role. His actions have damaged both his own reputation and the perception of Mississippi as a whole. Mississippi deserves an Auditor who is dedicated to the accurate and unbiased execution of their duties, without becoming entangled in political maneuvering. From authoring a personal book to making frequent media appearances and now overseeing questionable expenditures in his office, Auditor White has made it clear that he is more interested in advancing his own agenda than in serving the best interests of the state.

It is time to demand accountability and integrity in our public offices, starting with the State Auditor's office.
