As I'm sure you may have read, on Monday afternoon Larry Brown resigned his position on the Allen County Council. Thank you for signing and sharing this petition. The petition along with the planned protest demonstrates the success of collective, coordinated direct action for social change. Brown's resignation would not have been possible without your support. We are hoping we can ask you for a little more help to keep up the momentum. 

Please sign and share this new petition. It calls on Allen County Councilperson Fries to resign his seat after his patronizing remarks about protestors and his passive acceptance of Brown's racist comments. Changemakers, a Fort Wayne activist organization, has begun this new campaign. You can find that petition here--we encourage you to sign and share! 

We would also like to use this momentum and focus at the county level to apply some pressure to Karen Richards's office, the county prosecutor, who has insisted on long delays in processing the cases of the 99 protestors arrested in the first weekend of protests, not to mention at least 10 more targeted arrests in the last two weeks. These arrests have significantly depressed the number of protesters we've seen downtown through fear and suppression. Many other cities have chosen to handle the arrests of protestors markedly differently, in many cases dropping all non-violent charges altogether. We believe pressure on Karen Richards's office could have the immediate effect of helping those protesters in the most precarious of positions. We will be emailing shortly with some more action steps for you to take to keep the momentum moving towards getting the public pressure of protests reinvigorated.

We will be following up with the council on the rest of our demands for anti-racism education and hope to schedule a meeting with them very soon. We will keep you updated on that progress as well.
