Dear All,

It's been a tragic week in the region, with 3 deaths on Highway 19 on August 26 and 27th. This only underscores the concerns you've been raising for years about the state of road infrastructure and road safety enforcement in the area.

One of the best things you can do right now is reach out to our representatives to demand improvements to road safety enforcement (RCMP) and infrastructure (MOTT) in our area, to prevent further senseless deaths on Highway 19 between Nanaimo and Nanoose.

You can contact our MLA, Stephanie Higginson (be sure to include your name and postal code in your correspondence) here: Stephanie.Higginson.MLA@leg.bc.ca

You can contact our MP, Gord Johns, to request support for federal investment (in the form of increased BC Highway Patrol (RCMP) personnel patrolling this stretch of highway, and in the form of other investments in multi-modal transportation to improve traffic loads) at:
gord.johns@parl.gc.ca

You can also reach out to Area E Regional Director Bob Rogers here: bob.rogers@rdn.bc.ca

If you wish to contact other RDN members, their contact info can be found here: https://rdn.bc.ca/regional-board

Stay safe,

Zoe Todd
