Today, the planning commission "denied without prejudice" the Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for project Flamingo 640. The decision came about because no one on the planning commission who was present (Chair Jonathan Weldy, Commissioner Matthew Slowik, Vice Chair Michael Stoffel, Commissioner Melissa Demirci; Commissioner Kareem Gong was not able to attend) made a motion to approve a CUP after listening to a presentation from Contract Planner Jim Morrissey, the developers Robott Land, and almost 30 community members state their comments during the public hearing.
Without that permit, the project cannot move forward. The developer now has ten days to appeal that decision to the Board of Supervisors.
Thank you to EVERYONE for putting efforts towards fighting this project, for signing the petition, for emailing in your comments, for speaking your comments so passionately at today's meeting, and for not giving up. We will post future updates about this, so stay tuned.
