Fairlie Poplar Path: Bring the Atlanta Beltline to Downtown.

Fairlie Poplar Path: Bring the Atlanta Beltline to Downtown.
The Issue
The Fairlie Poplar Path is a proposed multi-modal transit corridor, built in the woonerf style, connecting Centennial Olympic Park to Woodruff Park in downtown ATL's historic Fairlie Poplar neighbhorhood. The path aims to catalyze interest, traffic, patronage, and investment within ATL's historic urban village. Much of the existing path is already been built with woonerf-style features. Further improvement proposals include:
Curb removal
Extension of end-to-end and side-to-side brickwork
Missing tree and plantar box additions
Space-activating asphalt art
History-preserving wall mural street art
Historic lampost additions
(Future) Parking garage/lot conversions along the path
Bring the Atlanta Beltline Trail Downtown.
Recipe to catalyze private investment:
• Dedicated bi-directional green space
• Room for growth + development along corridor • Commuter protection from cars
• Connection to transit
• Link to popular destinations
• Green and clean
