It's time to e-mail the WLS Board of Education
Citizens for a Safe WLS
Nov 16, 2017
Thank you for your efforts to keep Washington Local Schools’ staff and students safe. The petition you signed has acquired over 1,800 signatures, but this alone isn’t enough to ensure the outcome the district needs. To achieve the greatest impact, Superintendent Dr. Hayward and the rest of the Board of Education needs to hear directly from people—especially Washington Local residents, staff, and alumni—who want Patrick Hickey to stay away from school grounds.
Please consider sending Superintendent Hayward and current/future WLS Board members an e-mail to let them know your concerns. It is critical that all board members have all of the relevant information available to make a proper decision when it comes to determining the future of the district. You should consider writing a message entirely of your own, or you can use the template email below and add your own personal touches.

Sample E-mail
Dear [Board Member or Dr. Hayward],
[Introduce yourself, and insert your own connection to the school district here.]
Patrick Hickey, having been elected to the school board, is seeking the current ban to be lifted so he can have access to Washington Local Schools property and events. I am writing to ask that you push to uphold the ban he received in 2016.
The numerous allegations against Hickey prove that he is a risk to the safety of staff and students; therefore, he should not be allowed to interact with them on school grounds. As a board member, he should receive access to only the Lincolnshire Administration Building. This should be sufficient to fulfill his elected duties to attend board meetings.
Patrick Hickey’s behavior has garnered negative attention for the district, which has taken the spotlight away from students, staff, and residents who do so much good for the school community. Please do what is right for Washington Local, and work to keep Hickey away from school grounds.
Thank you,
