Committee Recommendations on Research and Innovation Bill, 2023

Dear colleagues and friends, 

Forgive this mid-summer intrusion but we wanted to update you on the recommendations from the Joint Committee on Education, Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Report on Pre Legislative Scrutiny of the Research and Innovation Bill, 2023

These recommendations address the majority of our concerns (including how research is best defined, parity of esteem, membership of the board, and clarification around funding of research) and one hopes that the final version of the legislation will be revised in the light of these. 

It would seem that consultation about the new research agency will take place in the autumn.  This will be another opportunity to make your voice heard so please stay in touch.
