Update on our open letter to Minister Simon Harris

Just a quick update to let you know that following our meeting with the Minister on Tuesday the 2nd of May, the Irish Times have published two further pieces about our campaign, one here by Carl O’Brien and another editorial which was just published yesterday (see here). The focus here is very much on how Ireland needs increased investment if it wants to be a research leader but also the key points we have set out in our letter around parity of esteem between disciplines and governance of the new Agency.

We’d also like to remind you of our upcoming meeting in Trinity College Dublin on Monday, 8th of May which we hope you can join either online or in-person (register here). We’ve now received news that the Minister will provide us with a video address and that we’ll be joined in-person by Department official Deirdre Lillis, assistant secretary with responsibility for Research, Innovation and International.
