Rescue Abandoned, Orphaned, and Injured Wildlife in our Province of Ontario

Rescue Abandoned, Orphaned, and Injured Wildlife in our Province of Ontario
The Issue
I found myself compelled to rescue two baby raccoons, about five or seven weeks old, after their mother was either killed or relocated without keeping in mind her helpless kits. These little ones had no chance to survive on their own, and I am doing everything in my power to give them that chance. However, I have found that due to limited suitable spaces, I am unable to relocate these vulnerable creatures. I’ve been calling countless local entities yield the same disheartening response: these innocent lives should be simply extinguished. This practice is inhumane and avoidable.

Each year, countless wild animals in our city meet similar fates. Their homes are taken; they are abandoned, injured, or inadvertently orphaned due to human activities. In the Province of Ontario, with its rich biodiversity, hosts various species that can fall victim to these circumstances. It's time we, the citizens of Ontario, urge our local government to implement comprehensive policies for the rescue, care, and relocation of such wildlife. These policies should emphasize on providing shelter, nourishment, and a path back to the wild for these creatures when they are ready.
We believe every life matters, and it is our moral duty to act when these lives are under threat due to our actions. Mitigation of unnecessary wildlife death in Ontario is possible with the right policies and structures in place. Let us take action to co-exist harmoniously and responsibly with our native wildlife. Please sign this petition to urge the Province of Ontario to establish a compassionate and effective system for aiding wildlife in need.
