Hi, my name is Lise. I am writing you this email because I had found about a week ago two little kits raccoons of the age between 5 to 7 weeks old that was abandoned by their mother or the mother was killed one of the other.
I hade made multiple, multiple calls for someone to come and get them to give them a second chance to survive and establish themselves into the nature, knowing now that the law here in Ontario is that you’re not able to keep a raccoon as a pet, “that I don’t understand”, because they are very, very intelligent animals that could benefit a lot of people.
Doing research on them says that one raccoon is equal to four toddlers, of course you have to have the room for them cause they are playful and energetic.
You allow lions, elephants, beers, wolves to be are pets here in Ontario, but a raccoon you can’t, were is the logic of this.
The by-law says if your animals are vaccinated then there is no worries, so get the raccoons vaccinated and fixed then we could have them as pets. Dogs bit people, cats attacks people, but we are allowed to have them.
Ferret we are allowed to have and they bit and could do a lot of damage on people, but again we are allowed.
I could go on with wildlife animals that people have in there home, fox, skunks, and more
I started a petition on this case.
Thank you
