We are concerned that Burnsville High School’s graduation is scheduled for June 6, 2025, which coincides with the religious holiday of Eid Al-Adha. This decision seems inconsiderate especially for families who now face the difficult choice between celebrating this important holiday or attending graduation.

We respectfully request that the graduation date be changed to avoid this conflict. The administration was aware that Eid Al-Adha could fall on June 6, and there are other dates available. It’s important to recognize that other districts (Eden Prairie High School sets new graduation date after concerns event was same day as religious holiday) have avoided this issue by selecting different dates.

Rescheduling graduation would show Burnsville High School’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and respect for all religious beliefs. We ask that you join us in signing this petition to encourage the administration to find a new date that accommodates everyone.
